In situ conservation protects species in their natural habitat, like lions in Gir or rhinos in Kaziranga. Ex situ means protecting them outside, like storing seeds in my gene bank or animals in a zoo. But bhaiyya, everyone talks of saving seeds in cold storage as the big solution—yet I see the real fight is with farmers forgetting traditional crops. My own father grew twelve kinds of rice in Chhattisgarh, landraces no gene bank jar can truly keep alive if the fields stop remembering them.
