For us Parsis in Mumbai, it is the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act of 1936, and we register with the Parsi Panchayat. It is our own specific law, very different from the Hindu or Special Marriage Acts! I know this well because my own marriage certificate, and my sister's before me, are from the Anjuman Atash Behram. This care for our separate tradition is a comfort, like a familiar prayer in a changing city.
