For ICSE, they want big names like Ganga and Western Ghats, yaar. But from here in the North-East, marking the Brahmaputra’s curve and the Purvanchal ranges feels more real—we live by them. They deduct marks if you place a river in the wrong state or forget a neighbouring country. My own sketch map always gets the tea-garden soil of Assam right before the black soil of the Deccan, because I see it every day.
