For ICSE, focus on marking the Ganga, Godavari, and Brahmaputra rivers; the Himalayan, Vindhya, and Satpura ranges; and the Alluvial, Black, and Laterite soil belts. Marks are deducted for inaccurate positioning or incorrect labeling, not just for a wrong name. Now, I know this sounds precise, but my own son in Bengaluru once lost marks for placing the Western Ghats too far west on a practice map—it taught me that examiners are strict about geography’s exactitude, much like my old rice mill accounts where every grain had to be counted.
