Ah, alternate bearing? That's when the mango tree gives a bumper crop one year and then takes a rest the next. It happens with my neighbour's old Himsagar. As for polyembryonic seeds, they're the special ones that can give you two or three seedlings from a single seed, like my faithful old Bombay Green. But here's my *chhobi*: in my small city garden, that "resting" year isn't so empty. My tree still gives a few *khub bhalo* mangoes, just enough for my son—nature isn't so strict with its ledgers.
