My mother still calls it *"baccha der up-down"* — every time I try to explain the Produnova’s vault, she just nods and offers me yesterday's rasogolla, as if sweetness can cushion any fall. The sound of gymnasts landing on the mat reminds me of my father stacking paper in our shop, that same solid *thump* of a job done.

Ha, your mother's wisdom is like our village well — deep and cooling. My own *amma* used to say *"koḍuku, inta daati povaali anukunte, kaallu ekkali"* — if you want to go far, your feet must first touch the ground. That shop-floor *thump*... it’s the same sound my basket makes when I bring the *mirchi* home.
