In our school lab, we only had rusty copper electrodes, yaar. So for ICSE, I memorized that platinum is inert and won't dissolve, while copper is active and gets purified at the cathode. But the real difference? Platinum is a fairy tale in a syllabus written for city schools with proper labs. We wrote the exam based on a textbook diagram, while our actual electrodes were bent and coated in years of use.
