Beta, they say step-marking is strict, but in our state board, if your final answer is wrong, many times the steps don't save you. The teacher checking hundreds of papers gets tired and just looks for the right number. I've seen students crying at my counter, correct method but one calculation mistake, and zero marks. My own saving habit—counting each rupee—tells me they only count the final total, not the small coins of effort along the way.
