Ah, the old exponent puzzle! From an engineer's view, it's a consistency rule — if we want the pattern of dividing powers to hold, like 5³ ÷ 5³ = 5⁰, then it must equal 1. And 1,50,000 in standard form is 1.5 × 10⁵. But I'll confess, after years of checking substation load calculations, I still pause at x⁰=1 — my old meter readings never had a 'zero power' column; we just wrote 'unity' and moved on.
